Catherine Harris marries David Martineau on 10 May 1785 in All Saints, Maidstone Kent.
When her child Lucy is born 17 Nov 1804 in London as a Non Conformist birth her parents were listed as David Martineau and Catherine d/o Joseph and Elizabeth Harris. Elizabeth may have been Elizabeth Prentis. England, Select Marriages, 1538-1973
David Martineau is mentioned as a son-in-law in Joseph Harris' will of 1790.
Martineau is interesting as they were French Huguenots who fled to Norfolk in the 1690s from France as they were Protestants. They are documented reasonably well as they became huge in the sugar refining industry as David Martineau and sons. David is the family name here more than one were medical men but Catherine's husband was David 1754 - 1840 who left Norfolk where he was a scarlet dyer went to London and started to refine sugar in 1797 possibly with brother Charles By the 1820s there is certainly more than one Martineau in sugar refining. The firm kept the family busy into the 20th C and they were particularly successful as the family had shared rights to the Langen process together with Tate family, of later Tate and Lyle. Of the 10 children of David and Catherin none of the girls married but lived together in the family house in Stockwell London.
Martineau was originally Unitarian and was pillars of the Octagon in Norfolk however some of the family became Anglicans.

Thomas Old meadow Gill was in partnership with a Jeremiah Norton and they had a drapery warehouse at Lawrence Lane Cheapside London. However the partnership was dissolved by mutual consent 1st Nov 1823 with the appropriate notice in the London Gazette and on 23rd Nov Jeremiah was to continue the business with his son William. What is interesting here is that Rev George Harris son of Rev Abraham Harris was, according to which source is read, was either apprenticed in a warehouse in Lawrence Lane Cheapside or had alternatively a clerkship there and was bookkeeping. His employers were it is said relatives but are not named. Gill and Norton appear to be the relatives in question. Jeremiah Norton was the son in law of George and Marys brother.
Thomas Oldmeadow Gill appears also in Salford Lancs where he is a Merchant looking like wine and a Magistrate. Lived at the Crescent Salford. A once posh row of houses more recently not so posh. He gave evidence in an enquiry in 1816 into the conditions of children working in the mills. He was asked what he manufactured and he said he manufactured nothing but stated he sent the manufactured cloth to his warehouse in London.
Son James baptised Feb 1802 St Stephens Salford later became a lawyer.
