It is assumed that Elizabeth is William's mother as she was living with William as a widow in the 1841 census.

In the 1841 Census of Ixworth is William Bailey, aged 40 a blacksmith, Mary Bailey aged 40, William Bailey aged 20 a blacksmith,  John Bailey a Taylor and Elizabeth Bailey aged 70 a widow.  All born in Suffolk.

In the 1851 census of Rickingham Inferior is Elizabeth  Bailey, aged 80 (b 1771), a pauper  born Bedlingfield .
