Some seem to think that Jonathan Crook is the same as Benjamin Crook son of John Crook and Esther Thornley who was baptised 24 Oct 1686 at St Peter, Bolton.  This is unlikely as a Benjamin goes on and marries etc.  Jonathan could have been an unrecorded sibling noting that the names John and Esther are in Jonathan and Alice's children's names.

An Administration document concerning Jonathan's estate is located in the Lancashire Archives - date given as 7 April 1755 where he is described as carpenter.
The text of this document follows:

Nothing can be gleaned from the names of Jonathans children here as there is both an Esther and a James in them, and of course  Alice may not even be a child of either of these Lomaxes as it is going to be a very common combination of names. Lomax is a surname originating in Bury next door to Bolton.
