Who is Mary Crook the mother of Jeremiah, Mary, Joshua and Alice Crook? Was their mother Mary Haulgh or Mary Standring. These two Marys are both married to a Joseph Crook a year apart - in 1773 and 1774 with both Joseph's being weavers of Bolton and with nothing readily obvious that distinguishes them from each other.
It is most likely that their mother was Mary Standeril, or Standring, on the basis that Mary Standring's father is named Jeremiah and his wife Jane/Janet is described as wife of Jeremiah when she is buried St Peter Bolton on 3rd December 1755. Mary and Joseph Crook's first two children are James (b1774) Joseph's father's name) and Jeremiah (b1775) (Mary's father's name).
Standring, was a family famous for the making of grandfather clocks.
