88. Robert Armstrong BREAKELL

Robert Armstrong Breakell was born in Madoc. Ont., on September 16 1880. Early in life he came west and after working for various railroads in Minnesota he moved in 1905 to Swift Current and entered the service of the Canadian Pacific Railway, later transferring to the Medicine Hat division of the C.P.R. where he worked first as a fireman, and since 1910 as a locomotive engineer until his retirement in September. 1945. Mr. Breakell was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
Knights of Pythias and the D.O.K. K.s and took an active part in these organizations until his retirement when his health was failing.
He was predeceased by his son, Kenneth, on June 12, 1936.
Surviving are his wife. Elsie; three daughters. Elsie. Mrs. J. W. Middleton and Mrs. J. R Black, all of Medicine Hat; four sons. Claude. Robert and Elston, of Medictne Hat. and Gordon. of Calgary: twelve grandchildren; one Sister. Mrs. Etta Crombie, of Montreal. Que . and one brother, Harry Breakell, of Oshawa,. Ont.

Gladys Isabelle NIXON

BREAKELL — Mrs. Gladys Isobel, beloved wife of Mr. Gordon Breakell of Calgary, passed away on January 21, 1995 at the age of 84 years. She is the loving mother of: Robert and his wife Maxine Breakell of Brooks, Alberta, and loving grandmother of Robert and his wife Bev of Brooks. Alberta, Mark of Calgary, and Natalie Ohlhauser of Vancouver. Predeceased by her son Ronald in October 1989, brothers: Murray Nixon, Bernard Nixon, James Nixon and Kenneth Nixon. Gladys was born in Crossfield. Alberta and educated in Drumheller. She was a member and past president of I.O.D.E. of the Medicine Hat Branch and a member of the Medicine Hat Chapter of Eastern Star. Funeral Services will be held at MclNNIS & HOLLOWAY’S ’ Park Memorial Chapel” (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Wednesday, January 25, 1995 at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Robert Hunter of Renfrew United Church officiating. Inurnment to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.

220. Kenneth Armstrong BREAKELL

KENNETH ARMSTRONG BREAKNELL
The death took place last Friday of Mr. Kenneth Armstrong Breaknell, 25, of Medicine Hat, brother of Mr. Gordon E. Breaknell, local C.P.R. telegraph operator, after a week's illness. About two months ago, he had submitted to a tonsil removal operation, and had returned to his work, apparently fully recovered. Six days before his death, he was forced to give up his work and re-enter the Medicine Hat hospital where he received treatment for a poisoned system, but failed to recover.
He is survived by his young widow and a four-year-old daughter, Doreen, as well as his parents, who reside at Medicine Hat; four brothers and three sisters.
The funeral service was held at St. John's Presbyterian church, Medicine Hat, on Sunday afternoon, with the Rev. Mr. Blackburn officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the family plot in Hillside Cemetery.

The death occured in Sunnybrook hospital, Toronto on Wednesday March 30, of Harry A Breakell 155 highland Ave. Oshawa, beloved husband of the former Ruby Pyra in his 66th year. In poor health for some years, he had been in hospital for the past eight months.
A son of the late Robert and Anne Breakell, the deceased was born at Madoc. He was married there in July 1918. And for a year did police duties at Renfrew. Proceding overseas in World War 1 with the Canadian Mounted Rifles he served as a corporal and was wounded at the battle of the Somme, which necessitated his return to Canada. He was an inherent of Knox Presbyterian Church. Mr Breakell had been an employee of General Motors for 26 years.
Besides his wife, he leaves to mourn his passing two daughters.
Mrs. R. Loney (Margaret), of Toronto. and Mrs. Roy Allen (Irene) of Oshawa: and two sons, Robert, with the Royal Canadian Navy at Halifax, and Donald at home.
Also surviving are four grandchildren and a sister. Mrs E Crombie of Montreal.
The funderal was held on 2nd April at Union Cemetery

Funeral was held Jan: 16, 1999, for Ilene June Breakell, 68, of Belleville and formerly of Oshawa, who died January 13, 1999, at her home. Service was conducted from Belleville Funeral Home and Chapel to the Hastings Park Bible Church with Pastor Ernie Belch
officiating. Burial was in Belleville Cemetery. Daughter of Joseph and Ivy Childerhose, she was the wife of Donald Breakell. Surviving her are children: Jane Breakell Brandsma and husband, Chris, of Belleville; and Pat Breakell Woodall and husband, Robert, of Belleville. Surviving him are brother and sisters Dorothy Dowe, of Oshawa; and Les Childerhose and wife, Joan, of Oshawa. Also survived are grandchildren Thomas Brandsma and Jessica and Joshua Woodall. She was predeceased by brother Jim Childerhose and sister, Barbara Childerhose. Many nieces and nephews also survive her.
Born in Oshawa, Mrs. Breakell was a member of Hastings Park Bible Church.
Bearers were: Keith Ball. Brian Childerhose, Chris Childerhose, Mike Childerhose, Jon Hall and Ward Davis.

MRS. ALICE M. WATSON
Mrs. Alice M. Watson, widow of the late Alex. H. Watson, died in the
Belleville General Hospital late Monday evening, July 14th, Her death
was due to shock and burns which she sustained while at her cottage at
Moira Lake a short time ago.
To many friends in this village and throughout the district the death of
Mrs. Watson has brought much regret. She was born in Madoc Village
seventy-four years ago, her parents being the late Mr. and Mrs. Anson
Ross. All her life was passed here except for a few years which were
spent at Queensboro, and by her friendly manner and kind disposition
she endeared herself to all who knew her. In religion she was a member
of St. John’s Anglican Church and fraternally she was a member of
Oakdale Rebekah Lodge, Madoc.
Surviving her are one son Mr. James Watson, editor and proprietor
of the Madoc Review; two daughters, Mrs. Hugh Davies, Madoc, and Mrs.
Hillis Fowlie, Niagara Falls N, Y. seven grandchildren and a cousin,
Miss Alice Wood, Madoc. Her husband died sixteen years ago.
The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon from her late residence.
