Date 20 Jul 1728Thomas Knowles Charity
In Feb 1686/87 a benefit was established by Thomas Knowles for the poor of Inskip, Sowerby, Tarnacre and Goosnargh. One of the trustees was a Thomas Miler. In about 1782 there was concern that the arrangements by the then trustees was less than optimal for the poor. The then trustees included John, Richard and William Miller, all three of Inskip with Sowerby, yeomen.
It is likely that all the above Miller (Milner) are related.

It is likely that the William b1735 and Thomas b1738 sons of a John were brothers, and sons of this John, as in the will of William of 1805 he has a Ralph Milner of Roseacre as an executor and that Ralph was the son of Thomas. When looking at the names of William and Thomas' children the name of their mother Margaret features early on.
