In Feb 1686/7 a benefit was established by Thomas Knowles for the poor of Inskip, Sowerby, Tarnacre and Goosnargh. One of the trustees was a Thomas Miler. In about 1782 there was concern that the arrangements by the then trustees was less than optimal for the poor. The then trustees included John, Richard and William Miller, all three of Inskip with Sowerby, yeomen.It is likely that all the above Miller (Milner) are related.

John Miller and Richard Miller, trustees of Knowles' Charity, to William Miller, all three of Inskip with Sowerby, yeomen -- property now called Lowdscales, with 53 ac. of land -- cites lease and release of Thomas Knowles of Sowerby, yeoman, dated Feb.1673/4, vesting property in trustees to distribute out of profits to the poor of Sowerby, Inskip Tarniker and Goosnargh, 50s. in each place, in default of heirs of the body of T.K.

In Feb 1686/7 a benefit was established by Thomas Knowles for the poor of Inskip, Sowerby, Tarnacre and Goosnargh. One of the trustees was a Thomas Miler. In about 1782 there was concern that the arrangements by the then trustees was less than optimal for the poor. The then trustees included John, Richard and William Miller, all three of Inskip with Sowerby, yeomen.It is likely that all the above Miller (Milner) are related.
