According to the census records and her death registration she was born about 1796 in Hamilton. She can be found in all the census records from 1841 to 1871.
In the 1871 census for Larkhall Mrs Peter Spalding and grand daughter Mary Lang are listed. Mrs Peter Spalding (Mary Thomson)'s age is shown as 55 but it should be closer to 75. Mary Lang was Mary Thomson's daughter Janet Spalding's first daughter.
