According to the various census Jane was born between 1811 and 1816 in Monkwearmouth. Her marriage certificate gives her father as William. In the 1841 census she is living next to William and Jane Bainbridge who were almost certainly her parents. Jane was thus born in 1814 to William Bainbridge and Jane Burn. In addition Jane's third child was called Gilbert Burn Storey after her grandfather, Gilbert Burn.
Her Birth Registration at Monkwearmouth gives her parants as William Bainbridge, a Ship Captain, and Jane Burn. Born 25 Nov 1814, baptised 5 Feb 1815.

Some record this person as Wilson Bainbridge no doubt to resolve the fact that there is an older William Bainbridge who is in the later census. The baptism record clearly shows the entry as Wm. son of Wm. Bainbridge, a shipwright and Jane of Monwearmouth. This person does not appear in any later census so his name may not have been correctly recorded.
