Giles ASHWORTH

Burial: Giles Ashworth
Age 77 Birth Date abt 1808
Burial Date 18 Apr 1885
Burial Place Turton, St Anne, Lancashire, England
Reference Number GB127.L98/1/5/4

Giles sister Sarah Ashworth born 1820 is described as being of a cadet branch (junior) of the very influential Ashworth family who are in books about the landed gentry complete with pedigrees etc. This situation must come via Giles and Sarah's father himself a Giles a name that runs in the family, Giles the elder,  died in 1828 and was buried St Anne Turton said to have been born in the 1770s.  Giles Ashworth who died 1828 and Ann had children all baptised St John's Bacup with an abode of either Edgworth/Edgworth Moor/Turton, apart from Giles, the father is described as a printer.

Giles, b1808, following the death of Elizabeth is next identified in the 1841 Edgworth census as being at Spring Bank aged 30 of independent means along with Ann 50 also independent, Sarah aged 20 and William aged 10 also both independent. Of the course the 1841 census gave no relationships so logic says that Ann is Giles mother, Sarah is his sister and William is his son.
