John, of Gisborne, having year of birth being as around 1650 and death in 1728.

He was possibly not born a Quaker if the date of 1650 is a good date, and not to Quaker parents, however they all may have become Quaker as evidently John did.

There are other Tippings about Sawley Grange.  Just how long they have been associated with this property is unknown but it is thought they may have been in Grindleton about 1620. This probably is, in whole or part, the site that was or formed part of the Monastery farm(s)?  The farm house has an interesting interior that looks as if it were formed around part of a much older old structure, perhaps an aisle hall. Sawley Grange is not far from Docber.  The Tipping family may have moved around the area i.e.  Pawley Grange, Dicer, Grindleton etc  and indeed to other nearby places and they may have been tenant farmers but some had land that they did own. It is not clear how many farms were at Sawley Grange but there are details of leases regarding Tipping and Weddel families that were in Manchester library.

A Thomas Tipping of Sawley Grange was a Quaker. It is possible that this man is the son of John Tipping and Frances and he has a daughter, Frances, presumably named after Frances Holgate.
