The Manor Records of the Manor of Healaugh include records of land transfers and inheritances. William Woodward (1729-1796) inherited from his father Rowleth Close, two fields called Parrocks, and Low Intake (all near Gunnerside).  During his life he acquired Little Park, Ambrose Park, Great Park, and Little Bank (there is an index for these records). All of this land was distributed in common amongst his children and eventually some of this land was passed on to his grandchildren.  This continuity of ownership of land is the strongest evidence linking this family together. His children, as named in the 1796 Manor Records, are:  William; John;  Thomas of Barnard Castle, Durham; James, of Stockton-on-Teees, Durham (in 1797 James appears elsewhere in the manot records, and it also says he lives in Stockton-on-Tees, Durham); Ruth, the wife of John Walters;  Martha, the wife of Robert Cleminson;  and Mary, the wife of John Normaville.
