Margaret Mary Sheen, was born on 2nd February 1847 in Sydney to Margaret McGovern and John Sheen.
Why was it that her daughter, Ada Law, would later claim that her mother's name was Margaret Shying and not Margaret Sheen? Those researching the Sheen family history are just as mystified, and as they can find no early reference to Sheen, they believe he was Shying.
Margaret was baptised on 14th November 1872 in Sofala, NSW, just months after marrying Joseph (Ah Chong) Law. Joseph had been born in 1828 in Hong Kong as Ah Chong. He had previously been married to Mary Smith and had at least two children. It is rumoured that he had an affair with Margaret and she became pregnant. The family story is that Margaret was the "servant-girl".

Witnesses were J E Denison-Woods and Margaret Mary Leahey. Joseph Ah Chong kept the two children of his first marriage and, for some reason, he and Margaret moved to Sofala. Apparently, they ran a boarding house in Sofala. All their children all bore the name Law - and there were 16 of them!
Margaret died on 7th October 1909 at The Rocks, Sydney, and was buried the following day at Rookwood Cemetery. Old Catholic Mortuary 1 section N, row 42 grave 833,834.

Joseph was originally married to Mary Clarke and had at least two children.

Margaret and Ah Chong moved to Sofala and ran a boarding house for many years. They moved back to Sydney after 1876.
Margaret and Joseph (Ah Chong) had 7 children before they were baptised and married in 1872.
Joseph's Death Certificate shows that he was in New south Wales "over 48 years" - so arrived about 1854/55.
