According to Thomas's son, John's Death Registration, Thomas was a Master Mason and John's parents were Thomas Scott and Janet Hamilton.

Marriage Scotlands People: SCOTT THOMAS, spouse - JANET HAMILTON /FR411 (FR411) 21/06/1764 625/20 13 Bothwell

It is assumed that the Thomas Scott born to William Scott and Jean Rae (RUE) is this Thomas as the date lines up and Thomas' first son is called William.  The William was also a Mason like Thomas.

Careful here as there was another Thomas Scott and Jean Hamilton that were married on 2 April 1774 in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire and were having children in that area.  At least Isobel on 1778 at Stonehouse.

Janet HAMILTON

There are numerous Janet Hamilton's in Lanarkshire at around this time.  There are at least 14 Janet Hamiltons baptised in Lanarkshire near to Bothwell between 1735 and 1748
